A wage agreement between the German trade union IG BAU and the construction employers' was reached to increase the minimum construction wages. The new nationwide wages will apply from 1st April 2020. „More than 200,000 construction workers benefit from the higher minimum wages, ”said IG BAU Federal President Robert Feiger.
The minimum wages for the unskilled construction workers will increase by 35 cents to EUR 12.55 per hour. In addition, the so-called minimum wage 2 (for skilled workers), which are applicable to the Western German States and Berlin, will be increased by 20 cents. In West Germany, the minimum wage 2 will be 15.40 euros per hour and in Berlin 15.25 euros. The new, increased minimum wages will run until the end of 2020
